DOVER, Del. (AP) — A Delaware judge has reaffirmed her ruling that Tesla must revoke Elon Musk’s multibillion-dollar pay package Chancellor Kathaleen St. Jude McCormick on Monday denied a request by attorneys for Musk and Tesla’s corporate directors to vacate her ruling earlier this year requiring the company to rescind the unprecedented pay package. McCormick also rejected an equally unprecedented and massive fee request by plaintiff attorneys , who argued that they were entitled to legal fees in the form of Tesla stock valued at more than $5 billion. The judge said the attorneys were entitled to a fee award of $345 million. The rulings came in a lawsuit filed by a Tesla stockholder who challenged Musk’s 2018 compensation package. McCormick concluded in January that Musk engineered the landmark pay package in sham negotiations with directors who were not independent. The compensation package initially carried a potential maximum value of about $56 billion, but that sum has fluctuated over the years based on Tesla’s stock price.None
More than 72 million people are expected to shop during Cyber Monday, according to the National Retail Federation . The end-of-year shopping surge provides a major boost for retailers. "The last six weeks of the year makes a big difference," said Brian Miller, owner of Geppetto's Toys in San Diego. "It can make or break your year as a retailer." Retailers already got a major bump from Black Friday spending. Consumers spent a record $10.8 billion online on Friday, according to Adobe Analytics . That's up more than 10% from last year. "It's not only bonanza for the shoppers, but it's bonanza for the stores," said Professor Alan Gin of the University of San Diego's Knauss School of Business. "People have just gotten a misconception of what was happening. Yes, prices are up, but in this recent time period here, what we've seen is that wages have risen faster than prices have increased. So, people's real incomes have gone up." Last month, consumer confidence hit its highest level in more than a year, according to the Conference Board, a nonprofit that tracks business and consumer sentiment. While BJP candidate Navya Haridas attributed Priyanka’s win to the “long political tradition” in the constituency of supporting the Congress, CPI(M)-led LDF’s Sathyan Mokeri claimed it was due to “the focus on Gandhi family’s sacrifices” like the killings of Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi to evoke the people’s sentiments. Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan congratulated the winners of the Wayanad LS and Palakkad and Chelakkara assembly bypolls. Priyanka got 6,22,338 votes which was 4,10,931 votes more than Mokeri’s tally of 2,11,407. Mokeri’s tally was also more than 70,000 votes less than what CPI’s Annie Raja got in the 2024 LS polls in April this year in Wayanad. She had secured 2,83,023 votes. The Left veteran said that the LDF and its constituent parties will examine the reasons behind the reduction in the votes received by the front. “The Left front and its parties will also examine whether a decline in the voter turnout also resulted in the drop in LDF votes,” he added. The LS poll turnout in Wayanad, which has over 14 lakh registered voters, was close to 74 per cent in April, but had declined to 65 per cent in the by-election in November. Mokeri said that the LDF bypoll campaign was carried out very efficiently in the hill constituency, but that is when the Congress raised the “emotional and sensitive issues”. He said that the entire Congress leadership camped out in Wayanad and their strategy was to not focus on developmental issues and politics and instead to “highlight the traditions and sacrifices of the Nehru family to sway the emotions of the people”. “They (Congress) focused upon the sacrifices of the Gandhi family, including the martyrdom of Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi to create an emotional image of Priyanka in the minds of the people and evoke their sentiments for her,” Mokeri told media here after the results were declared. Haridas, who came third with 1,09,939 votes which was around 32,000 less than K Surendran’s tally of 1,41,045 votes in the April LS polls in Wayanad, said that she “accepts” her defeat in the bypoll. She contended that while the BJP focused on developmental issues and needs of the public to seek their votes, the people of Wayanad followed the political tradition of supporting the Congress. Right from the start of counting of votes, beginning with the postal ballots, Priyanka was clearly in the lead which kept getting bigger as the counting progressed. As she gained a huge lead over her rivals, leaders of the Congress and its ally, the IUML, predicted a significant victory for her. They also predicted that she would cross the lead achieved by her brother, Rahul Gandhi, in the LS polls held in April in Wayanad. Rahul, in the 2024 LS polls in Wayanad, had got 6,47,445 votes to win with a victory margin of 3,64,422 votes. Priyanka’s husband, Robert Vadra, told reporters in Delhi that his wife was “breaking all records and the trends show the love and affection she has received from the people of Wayanad. MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester City’s players were booed by their own fans Tuesday after blowing a three-goal lead against Feyenoord in the Champions League to extend their winless run to six games. Jeers rang around the Etihad Stadium after the final whistle of a dramatic 3-3 draw. “They are disappointed. Of course we understand it,” City manager Pep Guardiola said. “They are completely right to express what they feel.” After five-straight losses in all competitions, City looked to be cruising to victory after going three up inside 50 minutes. But Feyenoord mounted an improbable comeback and leveled the game in the 89th to leave the home crowd stunned. While the worst losing streak of Guardiola’s managerial career was brought to an end, his wait for a first win since Oct. 26 goes on. Erling Haaland had scored twice, with Ilkay Gundogan also on target to put City in control. But goals from Anis Hadj Moussa in the 75th, Santiago Gimenez in the 82nd and David Hancko in the 89th turned the game on its head. According to stats supplier Opta, it was the first time in Guardiola's managerial career that his team had failed to win a game after leading 3-0. It said it was the first time City had failed to win from that position since 1989. “We lost a lot of games lately, we are fragile and of course we need a victory," Guardiola said. “The game was good for the confidence, we were playing a good level, but the first time something happened we had problems.” A win would have moved City up to fifth in the Champions League standings , but the draw left it 15th with three games remaining in the first phase of the competition. The top eight teams advance to the round of 16, while teams ranked ninth to 24th go into a playoff. City’s players, including Bernardo Silva, Josko Gvardiol and Haaland looked visibly frustrated as they left the field to cheers from the delirious traveling Dutch fans in the away section of the stadium. “If you are 3-0 up at home you can never give it away like this. It is what it is at the moment. The only thing we can do is fight back and stay strong,” City defender Nathan Ake said. City plays Premier League leader Liverpool on Sunday — defeat would leave it 11 points adrift of its title rival. “We will learn for the future. It has been and will be a tough season for us and we have to accept it," said Guardiola, who had a cut on his nose during the game. He said it had been caused when he scratched it with his fingernail. James Robson is at https://twitter.com/jamesalanrobson AP soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccer
For Helena children sending letters to Santa Claus, special mailboxes have been set up around town — and within a week of drop-off, senders can expect a postcard from the big man himself. The red mailboxes can be found at the City-County Building Information Desk, Memorial Park Warming House & Ice Rink, and the main entrance of the Helena Civic Center. They were set up by Helena’s Parks, Recreation and Open Lands Department. Although Santa replies to each letter himself, Aquatics and Recreation Program Manager Kait Perrodin is the city official trusted as Santa’s helper. This will be the second year of the Postcards from Santa program, she said. Last year, she delivered 125 postcards and hopes to send even more. She used her background in graphic design to create four Helena-themed postcards, based on the fire tower, Mount Helena, the civic center and Memorial Ice Rink. The design featured on the city’s social media depicts a sleigh and reindeer flying over a string-light decorated fire tower. Her favorite part of the project was reading the letters. “I love reading what kids want for Christmas and seeing their cute doodles,” she said in an email. “I have on occasion received a detailed plan from a child on how they plan to catch Santa on Christmas Eve. Those are always very creative.” Senders should drop off their letters before Dec. 20 to make sure they get a response. The red boxes can be found at the first floor of the City-County Building at 316 N. Park Ave., Memorial Park Ice Rink at 5 Memorial Drive and the civic center at 340 Neill Ave. Those who can’t reach a mailbox can also call 406-447-8077 or register online at .INNOVATORS PAVE DIGITAL PATH IN FARM SECTOR
